Let’s go fishing!
A day of fishing with the kids may be one of the most common activities that creates strong bonds between parents and their children. Fishing tournaments promote healthy recreation and care for marine resources.
FONMAR (Fund for the Protection of Marine Resources) will hold children’s fishing tournaments in La Paz and Mulegé, aiming to promote sport fishing and strengthen family life in an environment of joy and learning.
The calendar of activities will kick off with the 11th Children’s Day offshore tournament in Los Barriles, on April 26 and 27. Registration is 100 pesos per child, which includes free food and a raffle for participants.
Additionally, the 1st Shore Fishing Tournament will take place in San Juan de la Costa on April 26 and 27, with a recovery fee of 100 pesos per child and a prize pool of 20,000 pesos.
Later, on Sunday, April 27, Puerto San Carlos will host the 4th Children’s Day Tournament, which will occur on the shore. Registration is free, and the prize pool will be 50,000 pesos, distributed in two categories: girls and boys.
Finally, on Sunday, May 4, in Santa Rosalía, young fishermen will take part in the Future Promises tournament, also held on the shore. This tournament will require an entry fee of 100 pesos and guarantees a prize pool of 14,000 pesos. Through these types of events, FONMAR reaffirms its commitment to training new generations of responsible fishermen, strengthening family ties, and promoting respect for the marine environment from childhood.
