Despite lingering concerns about feelings of insecurity in Mexico, Los Cabos has welcomed more than 30,000 American spring breakers this March, signaling a strong season that is expected to reach 52,000 visitors in the coming days.
Robin Hernández, president of the Association of Professionals and Business Leaders of Los Cabos, said the season is progressing positively, with one final weekend remaining that could make this one of the most successful spring break periods in the destination’s recent history.
“This year has been incredible. It demonstrated strong coordination between the business community and authorities. We proved we can host 52,000 students safely, giving them the opportunity to experience a beautiful destination and leave with a great impression of our world-famous city,” Hernández said.
Visitors have reported feeling safe throughout their stay, a sentiment reflected in positive social media posts and airport exit surveys, he added.
“They have been very happy, not only at concerts but also in bars, beach activities and the many boat parties. This reflects a safe destination that is open to all kinds of visitors,” Hernández said.
The season has also brought increased economic impact, partly driven by a rise in travelers arriving with family members. About 20 percent of visitors were accompanied by relatives, a growing trend that has expanded tourism spending.
These companions often stayed in separate hotels and extended their visits, further boosting the local economy.
Hernández emphasized that coordinated efforts across the region helped ensure a positive experience for visitors. He said the results strengthen Los Cabos’ reputation as a safe and well-prepared international destination while laying the groundwork for continued tourism growth in the years ahead.
