Residents of La Paz can bring their natural Christmas trees to be shredded at the Eco Park. Throughout January, natural Christmas trees will be accepted at the Eco Park in the municipality of La Paz. This is part of the environmental care initiatives promoted by the administration.
“We invite residents to bring their Christmas trees Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.” reported the Deputy Director of Public Spaces, Raúl Ramos.
The trees will be shredded as part of the Hands to the Earth program for reuse in reforestation efforts, or people can take the mulch home to use in their gardens.
Mulch is an organic material made from the shredded trees, which helps retain soil moisture, regulate temperature, control weeds, and provide nutrients to plants as it decomposes.
Citizens are advised to bring the trees without their bases or nails to facilitate shredding; otherwise, they should inform the staff for proper handling.
“The aim is to prevent the generation of pests and the abandonment of trees in streets, public spaces, or streams, promoting a responsible and sustainable disposal of Christmas trees,” Ramos concluded.
