5th Annual Wahoo International Fishing Tournament

The 5th Annual Wahoo International Fishing Tournament, sponsored by the city of San José del Cabo, will take place Sunday, January 11, 2026, at La Playa in Marina Puerto Los Cabos. The event honors the memory of Pablo Sánchez Navarro, who died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 33.

Sánchez Navarro, son of businessman Eduardo Sánchez Navarro, founder of the Los Cabos Film Festival and owner of Grupo Questro, was best known as the owner of Hotel El Ganzo in San José del Cabo. The boutique hotel became a creative hub, hosting artists such as Technicolor Fabrics, Brett Dennen, and singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade.

The fishing tournament begins at 7 a.m. with a grand prize of $8,300 for first place, $5,500 for second, and $2,700 for third. A Top 4 Jackpot of $500 will be awarded for the largest Wahoo, Dorado, and Tuna catches, with the next three places in each species category receiving $300, $200, and $100, respectively.
