Now people deserve to enjoy it!

The coastal road to the East Cape will be reactivated this Easter weekend with various family-friendly activities. The organizations: “Defensores de Caminos Costeros”(Defenders of Coastal Roads), “Cabeños Unidos enDefensa de sus patrimonies” (Cabeños United in Defense of their Heritage), and the “FONMAR” (Fund for the Protection of Marine Resources) will hold the first shore fishing tournament.

The “Coastal Road” fishing tournament will be held at El Zacatón Beach.

Tournament coordinator Omar Escobedo said that, although the activities will take place on Saturday, April 19, portable restrooms will be available for camping guests starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18.

Those interested in participating may do so free of charge. The categories will vary, allowing participation from children to adults.

Registration begins at 5:30 Saturday morning at the location when the tournament begins. Fishing will start at 7:00 a.m. and the scale will close at 11:00 a.m. There will be a prize pool of $1,000 US, which will be announced at noon.

After the tournament, there will be volleyball tournaments and raffles for children, to create a healthy, family-friendly environment.

In the short term, a calendar of activities is planned to keep the beaches of the East Cape active. The goal is to promote sports and family unity.
