Los Cabos Film Fest Competition

The Los Cabos International Film Festival has announced its Open Call for amateur and professional filmmakers to participate in the La Baja Inspira (Baja Inspires) 2025 competition. This category showcases films with a strong connection to the Baja California Peninsula. The submission period ends on April 30.

Launched in 2021, this program promotes regional filmmakers and films set in Northern Baja California or Baja California Sur. Due to its enthusiastic reception, La Baja Inspira has expanded, bringing free screenings to public spaces and schools across the peninsula. To date, the project has visited over 10 cities and 20 locations, offering audiences the chance to engage with guest filmmakers through talks, Q&A sessions, and activities.

Applications are open for feature films and short films (fiction or documentary) produced in Mexico between 2022 and 2025, provided they have a clear connection to Baja California or Baja California Sur. Directors can review the rules and submit their films at:

Set against the stunning backdrop of Los Cabos, Mexico, the festival fosters dialogue among filmmakers and industry professionals. It has become a highly anticipated event for both audiences and the press. Additionally, filmmakers engage with students from elementary to university levels, sharing their knowledge and inspiring a passion for cinema.

Films must be produced in Northern Baja California or Baja California Sur. Feature films and short films (minimum 10 minutes) are accepted. Both fiction and non-fiction films are eligible. Films in which festival staff are credited with key roles (director, producer, writer, editor, sound, or cinematography) will not be considered. Submissions must demonstrate a connection to the Baja region.

No links to films will be accepted for pre-selection. Physical formats (DVDs, Blu-rays) will not be accepted. Selected films will be announced on May 22, 2025, on the festival’s website and social media. Once selected, films cannot be withdrawn from the festival lineup.

Selected filmmakers must provide a digital screening copy with English or Spanish subtitles, a high-quality digital trailer or a two-minute promotional clip, private digital screening access for press and internal use, a high-resolution digital poster and film stills, a brief synopsis (max. 500 characters), a director’s profile and technical sheet, and a 60-second video invitation from the director(s) encouraging audiences to attend.

The festival may use up to 2 minutes of the trailer for promotional purposes. Films may be removed from programming if any associated personnel engage in actions that harm others physically or emotionally. Any issues not covered in these regulations will be resolved by the Organizing Committee.
