Especially during the Semana Santa holiday season
Although they are few, there remain some beaches in the Baja where camping or parking an RV is possible, such as El Comitán in La Paz and El Tule in Los Cabos.
Congressman Sergio Polanco has strongly urged both authorities and the public to ensure safety in the region by regulating vehicles that access the beaches. He emphasized the importance of preventing accidents and protecting families in BCS. Polanco highlighted the risks that both land and water vehicles pose on the beaches, affecting personal safety as well as the environment and marine species. “It is essential that the competent authorities safeguard the safety of families and the natural environment,” he remarked. He also noted the need for regulations governing mobile homes in beach areas, insisting that they adhere to rules on solid waste management and sewage discharges, particularly concerning conditions at El Comitán Beach and El Tule. “It is imperative to establish order to prevent environmental damage and ensure the cleanliness of our coasts,” he added.
The legislator recognized the collaborative efforts of federal, state, and municipal authorities, alongside business chambers and various organizations during the Semana Santa operations. However, he stressed the necessity of bolstering institutional capacities to enhance the effectiveness of preventive measures. “Good public action is essential to achieve a clean bill of health and provide the best care to residents and visitors,” he noted.
Finally, Polanco called for increased public awareness and highlighted the importance of collaboration across all sectors to preserve Baja California Sur as a safe and attractive tourist destination.
