For those of us who eagerly await the dazzling fireworks display at Medano Beach every New Year’s Eve, there’s a bit of a bummer this time around. The association of Medano beach business owners has announced a change in plans – there will be no fireworks show to ring in the new year. While it’s a letdown for fireworks enthusiasts, there’s a pretty valid reason behind this decision.
The ocean, in its natural ebb and flow, has decided to claim more territory along Medano Beach. Because of this, there simply isn’t enough safe space to set up and launch the fireworks. Safety first, as they say, but it’s hard not to feel a little disappointed.
Remembering the spectacular display from last year only adds to the nostalgia. Those bursts of color lighting up the night sky were truly a sight to behold. But even without the pyrotechnics, Medano Beach will still be a fantastic place to welcome the new year. The sound of the waves, the festive atmosphere, and the company of friends and family – these are things that fireworks can’t overshadow.
