Mexico’s Most Beautiful Beach Produces Revenue

The recent decision of the federal government’s national protected areas agency (Profepa) to charge a fee to access Balandra beach in La Paz is going well. The number of visitors and vehicles has reduced, giving the gorgeous beach a respite since at some point in high season it was visited by up to 5,000 people. The 54 peso fee per person (about  $2.70 USD) is expected to bring in some $75,000 bucks, which will be used for beach maintenance, garbage pick up and new palapas.
