Silvia's Sweet Creations

Silvia Armenta manages life loving each moment, and part of the love is from the incredible deserts she prepares.

She was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and grew up with mariachi music, parties, and many celebrations. Her childhood was magical! Silvia is continuing those very happy memories that her family instilled in her through her baking. As many foreigners do, Silvia relocated to San Jose del Cabo to find work. She hoped she would make it in Cabo for at least a few months and destiny prevailed.

Silvia started to bake at home for the simple reason that she did not care for the commercial bread we find in supermarkets. Initially, she was just making bread for herself. She would prepare all types of bread, using hand-picked ingredients she could find.

One weekend, she had guests visiting her home, offered them some of her fresh homemade Banana Bread, and after being overwhelmed by the taste they could not believe she had baked it. One guest suggested she start selling her bread. The idea had never crossed Silvia's mind, she smiled and appreciated the compliment.

As time moved on and often between jobs, she started baking a variety of her tasty creations and selling them due to lack of income and the need to pay her bills. Not only did this pay the rent, utilities and transportation, but it blossomed into much bigger stakes that she had never dreamed of. Each day, she would try many different ingredients, and experiment with the quality and taste.

Silvia is now a full-time professional government licensed baker in Cabo. She has been living in San Jose del Cabo for 5 years, has a beautifully appointed location at the Regional Market in San Jose del Cabo, sells to restaurant establishments, does catering and even will provide theme parties.

Saturday, November 2, she has coordinated a Mystery Theme Evening at Solomon's Landing Restaurant on the Marina for a select group of 12 suspects (guests). She is also available to cater to birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries, any special event one desires. Some of the selections on Silvia's menu are Aloe Vera Muffin Sweet Potato Treat and a variety of bread.

Silvia bread choices include Carrot, Vanilla, Banana, Chocolate and Three Milk. She also prepares Cinnamon Rolls, Donuts, Cookies, Jelly and even custom theme cakes.

Mexican desserts such as Turnovers are a famous delight along with Mini Cheesecake garnished with Strawberry Sauce. The list is endless since Baja Sur has so many rich products to use. Silvia puts all of her heart into her baking!

She has also teamed up with the coolest two party stores in Cabo San Lucas. Colors, Envolviendo el Sentimiento, which means wrapping, feeling and Dulceria Caramelo, which means sweet candy.

The two side-by-side establishments are owned by sisters Wendy Lugo and Perla Lugo. You can find very tasteful, unique party items at their shops. These items are easy to find outside of Cabo, but not here, even Walmart has a very limited selection compared to the array of choices the sisters offer. They have props, decorations, creative balloons and great greeting cards.

If you are planning a party or small celebration, stop in and visit Wendy or Perla. Silvia's business cards are displayed at their location if you wish to finish off the party in a delicious style. The shops are located at Camino al Faro, at the intersection of Calle Melchor Ocampo and Calle Adolfo Lopez Meteos. Their Facebook page is colorsdetallesyregalos.
