The project aims to provide transportation services and infrastructure for transporting agricultural products, thereby promoting the region’ s economic development.
In the environmental impact statement, it was stated that the runway could also be used for emergencies or special cases requiring the transportation of individuals from the district and nearby towns.
The site features a 1,200 meter long by 30-meter-wide runway, which will be constructed with compacted earth, surrounded by a perimeter fence made of wooden poles and plastic pipes, along with two aircraft parking platforms measuring 10 x 10 meters each.
Additionally, it will include hangars and an administrative area of 25,089 square meters. These facilities are nearly complete, with only the finishing touches pending, and there are 4,172m² of parking space, which is already ready for use.
Additionally, the aircraft expected to arrive at the airfield are Super King Air 300 models, while the coordinating airport for the site is in the municipality of Loreto.
The aircraft’s cargo capacity is a maximum of 6,803 kg or can transport 6 to 12 people; however, the aircraft will primarily be used for transporting agricultural products, not for passenger transport.
It’s important to mention that the airfield could facilitate the transportation of agricultural products to three national destinations, operating three weekly flights, which does not represent a significant increase in air traffic dynamics in the region.
Finally, developing runways is also deemed essential due to the vulnerability of land communication routes during hurricanes, particularly on the Transpeninsular highway. It frequently sustains damage from rainfall in various sections across the state, cutting off municipalities and impeding the transport of goods, mainly consumer and support items, during these periods.
The actual location would be newsworthy.
