The perception of insecurity in Mexico continues to generate concern among the populace, particularly those who fear becoming victims of crime.
According to the most recent data for the first three months of 2025, 61.7% of urban residents consider their environment unsafe. This figure reflects a slight increase compared to the previous quarter, as per the ENSU of the INEGI (National Institute of Statistics and Geography in Mexico).
Of the 91 localities analyzed in the ENSU (National Urban Public Security Survey), San Pedro Garza García in Nuevo León had only 10.4% of its citizens fearing potential crime.
This figure contrasts sharply with other regions, where safety concerns aremore pronounced. In cities such as the Benito Juárez mayoralty, in Mexico City and Piedras Negras in Sonora, approximately 20% of residents report feelings of insecurity.
In Los Cabos, 24.7% of the population express concerns, while in La Paz, the rate is slightly higher at 27.8%.
Other cities such as Puerto Vallarta with 23.0%, Los Mochis 25.8%, Saltillo 24.5%, San Nicolas de los Garza 28.4%, and Tampico 29.7% expressed safety concerns.
