Third Annual ‘Bulnes 2025’ Sport Fishing Tournament to Benefit Cabo San Lucas Firefighters

They deserve it now more than ever.

The Third Annual ‘Bulnes 2025’ Sport Fishing Tournament will take place on April 12-13, 2025, in Cabo San Lucas, benefiting the local fire department. Named after Don Luis Bulnes, a pioneer of sportfishing and ecotourism in the region, the tournament has become a key fundraiser while promoting sustainable fishing practices.

Organized by the Board of Trustees of the Cabo San Lucas Fire Department, this year’s competition will focus on Yellowtail (Jurel de Castilla), with a total prize pool of over 150,000 pesos (7,500 USD). The prizes are as follows:

  • First Place: 100,000 pesos (5,000 USD)
  • Second Place: 50,000 pesos (2,500 USD)
  • Third Place: 40,000 pesos (2,000 USD)

Teams of up to four participants can enter for a registration fee of 6,000 pesos (300 USD). Optional jackpots for Yellowtail and Sierra are available at different levels: 1,000 pesos (50 USD), 2,000 pesos (100 USD), 5,000 pesos (250 USD), and 10,000 pesos (500 USD), offering additional prize opportunities.

Supported by the Government of Baja California Sur, FONMAR, and the XV Municipality of Los Cabos, the tournament is overseen by official judges and organizers Clicerio Mercado and Gonzalo Alamea.
