That ugly building next to the old bullring in Cabo’s entrance
The public water utility OOMSAPAS, responsible for potable water, sewage, and sanitation systems in Los Cabos, continues to implement strategic actions to improve the distribution of drinking water in Cabo San Lucas. Through hydraulic interconnections and increased efficiency, significant progress has been made in reducing the waiting time between water supplies, directly benefiting multiple neighborhoods.
One of the most important achievements has been the introduction of water from San José del Cabo to neighborhoods that previously depended solely on the desalination plant. Thanks to this measure, the distribution cycle has been shortened, allowing more families to receive water in less time. Additionally, six key interconnections have been established to reinforce pressure and flow in the northern and higher-altitude areas of Cabo San Lucas. These improvements have enhanced coverage in areas with supply difficulties, ensuring a more equitable distribution of this essential resource.
The recent commissioning of the “La Sanluqueña” pumping station, along with the connection of distribution lines, has provided immediate benefits to several neighborhoods in Cabo San Lucas. These efforts reflect OOMSAPASLC’s commitment to continuously improving service and addressing the community’s needs.
However, the success of these initiatives depends not only on technical advancements but also on the responsible use of water by residents. Water leaks remain a persistent challenge, and their prompt detection and reporting are crucial to preventing losses and optimizing distribution. Citizens are encouraged to report any network issues using the official OOMSAPASLC channels. The contact numbers for reporting leaks are as follows:
• Phone: CSL (624-146-3610), SJC (624-146-0655)
• WhatsApp: CSL (624-106-1619), SJC (624-355-4803)
While the actions taken so far have been effective, the work continues. Collaboration between the agency and the community is essential to ensuring a fair and efficient water supply for all.
