The school bus was abandoned inside the Santa Anita School. Principal Freddy Flores and a group of teachers decided to do something about it as the school needed a library. So, they approached the Rotary Club of San José looking for support.
With Rotary Club sponsorship and an architect’s design, the project became not only a library but also a recreational space where kids will be able to read or watch a movie. They are going to build a garden with some shade nets and benches as well as a ramp to make it accessible for the disabled and make it very inclusive.
The Rotary Club Secretary in San Jose, Oliver Peralta, explained that throughout the year, they will continue holding events to raise funds to complete the transformation of the school bus. It will cost around $800,000 pesos (40 thousand dollars).
The first scheduled fundraiser is a pickleball event on Sunday, February 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The idea is that families go with their children who enter for free, and adults pay 500 pesos (25 bucks) each. They will be able to enjoy breakfast sponsored by Rubra’s Bakery restaurant, located in the San José del Cabo art district and will be given basic instruction to play pickleball as well as other activities.
I will watch for the next fundraising event date. Is the art district in Plaza Mijares?
