Just finished driving the Baja again using Highway 1 and 5 ….! The road condition North of Guerrero Negro is absolutely horrible and in such need of repair. It is very dangerous!
I don’t understand why your paper doesn’t call more attention to the pathetic lack of government support for the only Baja highway carrying commerce and all driving tourists!
I’ve been driving back and forth for 35 years and it is the worst and most dangerous I‘ve experienced!
The pathetic government response is always the same, we don’t have the money … what a joke!

Editor’s note:
Hi Scott,
Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We do write about the pitiful state of the Peninsula Road, both in our Southern and Northern Baja newspapers. We also have published it in our daily newsletters, to which you can subscribe on our website at: https://gringogazette.com/subscribe/
But if the government doesn’t pay attention to the local and National newspapers, we truly don’t expect them to pay attention to a Gringo newspaper, even though, of course, if they want to stay informed they should! Maybe they will see the above link!
Money has been allocated, though, and pothole repair is ongoing now. Poor repairs, I’d like to add. President Claudia Sheinbaum promised in a recent visit to allocate millions of pesos to fix highways throughout Mexico and our peninsula is on top of the list as it is too important to our supply chain and businesses. ,
