Southern Baja Cops Among the Best Paid in Mexico

So, guess what? Our very own Baja California cops are raking in the dough, sitting pretty as the third highest-paid police force in Mexico. With a cool $634 USD monthly for those grueling 12-hour shifts, it’s no wonder they’re sticking around. But here’s the kicker: while our boys and girls in blue are doing better than most, living in Baja’s not exactly cheap.

A recent dive by home leasing companies into our living costs threw up some eye-watering numbers. We’re talking an average monthly rent of $1,620 USD! That’s right up there with Mexico City, making us the champs of pricey pads in the country. And here’s a thought – maybe, just maybe, those hefty rents are keeping the old tradition of “mordidas” (bribes) alive and kicking. High living costs and good wages – it’s all a bit of a balancing act here in Baja.
