A group of scientists have reported that a hign number of gray whales (Eschrichtius robustus) have been found dead on North American shores between 2019 and 2020. At least 384 of them were tummy up, and many more have been seen undernourished along the coasts of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. This event is called Unusual Mortality Event and is similar to another one registered between 1999 and 2000. Scientists believe it is caused by a lack of food but are still investigating. Sigh.
