Good Deal On Donald Trump Pinata

Last week Donald Trump, maybe as a joke since everyone laughed at him, tossed his hat in the ring as a candidate for President of the United States. In his first campaign speech he bashed Mexican immigration into the States, saying among other things, they are what’s wrong with the country.

Avalos Ramirez, who lives and works in Reynosa, Mexico, said Mexicans on both sides of the border are angry, so he’s selling pinatas shaped like The Donald, and sales are brisk. He’s even taking them north to McAllen Texas to test the sales there.

The original form of the pinata, brought to Mexico from Europe in colonial times, was a ball with seven spikes. The pinata represented Satan and the spikes the seven cardinal sins.   Thus the breaking of the pinata represented the defeat of Satan. Appropriate for how Mexicans feel about Trump.

But nowadays the pinata could be in any form. You might see a pinata of Bart Simpson, Winnie the Pooh or Spiderman. So the  pinata may or may not represent a negative personality or character.   In the case of Satan, it does. But if a kid is a Spiderman fan, his parents throw a party with a Spiderman pinata because the kid likes Spiderman. Just don’t think for a minute that anyone is buying a Trump pinata because they like Trump.

The pinatas are on sale for $40, and the entrepreneurial Trump would probably approve of people making money, even if it’s at his expense.
