Just a few minutes north of beautiful downtown Los Barriles, you will find the gated community of Colina del Sol. There, on the club house grounds, is the annual Asociación de Artes Holiday Art Show for this year. This show provides a showcase for local artists to present their creations to the public and just in time for holiday shopping. The event offers art work from local artists like Stephen King (the artist, not the writer), and Jose Barchi, silver jewelry from Elizabeth Perkins, and Victoria’s sunny dresses. There will be hand crafted aprons, pillowcases, ceramic chickens, and wooden bowls from Todos Santos craftspeople, handmade cards, collectible handmade dolls, and more.

While shopping, you will be tantalized by the delicious odors wafting over from the nearby food vendors. They will be featuring burgers and pizza from Gourmet Pizza of San Antonio who will also be selling is sweet breads, jams, salsas and  delicious strudel, (and you can order a whole strudel for your Christmas party.)  You will also be teased by the aroma of the Sausage Ladies- and yes, there will be take homes:, Carmen will be there with her smoothies and treats. (Did we just say the sausage ladies have an aroma?)

Now, you may be a bit parched, and Asociación de Artes will solve that with their beverage bar. There will be plenty of places to hang out and visit with your friends near there. Come for breakfast, do your shopping, visit friends then go home after lunch and sleep it off. The lovely grounds lead to a winding stroll through the booths, past the food and around the pool.

You will have the opportunity to also buy raffle tickets, which lead to one of our fantastic baskets filled with gift certificates for hotel stays, activities, beauty treatments and dinners along with other gifts.  Buy a ticket, or six, and secure your chance to win one of the baskets worth hundreds of dollars each.  It’s the raffle sales that provides the funds from this show to support all the kids’ programs and school supplies the Art Ass. supports.

To get to the interesting little beach side town of Los Barriles, drive north out of San Jose past the airport for about an hour.  You will pass a marker announcing the Tropic of Cancer, pretty interesting. Colina del Sol is just a bit north of the town of Los Barriles, (The Barrels), along the beach, on the road called the road to nowhere and you will pick up the signs. The young local beneficiaries appreciate the support from you who come to this annual holiday tradition. It’s the only art enrichment most of them will ever get.

Date is December 2, 10 am to 3 pm. For more information on the show or to become a vendor, contact eastcapearts@gmail.com.
