BY THE TEAM AT PROTECT TODOS SANTOS
There Is Going to Be a Very Important Meeting and We Need as Many People as Possible to Attend. It Is This Coming Tuesday, July 1 at 5:00 pm at the Cultural Center across from AmerMex Realty. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the new Urban Development Plan (PDU).
Both Governor Castro and La Paz Municipal President Milena Quiroga along with representatives from several federal organizations will be there. There will be seating set up in the courtyard so come early for a good seat.
All permanent and temporary residents please come, and invite your friends. It will be in Spanish but having signs and bodies will make statement.
We are at a really Critical Moment Right Now and the municipality and officials must hear from us. Signs should be in Spanish. “No nuevo PDU” or “No Hay Agua” or “No Palmoral y Santa Terra” or “Protege Nuestro Oasis” would be some good themes.
As a reminder here is what their PDU will do:
- It will increase the population to 150,000 which would take the over extraction of the aquifer from the current 80% to 300-400% which means we will eventually run out of water in the aquifer.
- It creates 40,000 new additional lots, many only 10th of an acre in size.
- It would allow condos to be built anywhere.
- It reduces dune protection.
- The extraction of the aquifer will result in less surface flow from the springs so it will kill the oasis since it is there because of the surface flow.
- If we run out of water your home will be worth $0 and be unlivable.
If you are back in the states or Canada and can’t make it but would like to help, there are 3 lawsuits filed against the PDU and we will use your money to pay for our attorney fees. We would also appreciate your forwarding this email to your friends if you can’t make it.
