With the goal of strengthening social infrastructure and improving mobility in one of the fastest-growing areas of the state capital, the Baja California Sur government and the La Paz City Council have approved the start of the second phase of the South-East Urban Circuit. The new roadway will serve as an alternative route to Forjadores Boulevard.

Carolina Armenta Cervantes, secretary of Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, Environment and Natural Resources (SEPUIMM), said the project is being carried out in coordination with the La Paz City Council. The project represents a total investment of about $4.9 million USD from the Trust for Social, Tourist and Urban Equipment Infrastructure of the Municipality of La Paz.

The project includes three sections. SEPUIMM has already begun preliminary work to mark lane layouts, defining the boundaries of the segment that runs from the entrance to the Valle del Mezquite neighborhood to the access road for South Peninsula Boulevard. The roadway will be paved with high-resistance hydraulic concrete designed to ensure greater durability under heavy vehicle traffic.

The project will also include the construction of curbs, sidewalks and protective barriers to improve pedestrian safety. Public lighting and traffic bollards, short posts used to guide or restrict vehicle access, will also be installed as part of the area’s urban infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the section that will connect the circuit to the Los Planes Highway is currently in the bidding phase.
