The arrival of cruise ships to the Pueblo Mágico of Loreto has provided a strong boost to the local economy, generating jobs and improving the quality of life for residents, said Municipal Tourism Director Badrolilia Lucero.
From December 8 to 12, Loreto welcomed two cruise ships carrying more than 4,300 passengers. According to official data, 3,575 of them disembarked to explore the city, bringing a significant increase in international visitors to close out 2025.
Lucero reported that the visits generated nearly two million pesos (about $112,000 USD) in spending, benefitting artisans, restaurants, transport services, tour operators, and other businesses.
On December 9, the Emerald Princess arrived with 2,461 passengers, many of whom expressed admiration for Loreto’s natural beauty. Three days later, on December 12, the Zaandam returned the town’s historic center to life with another influx of tourists.
“Loreto has so much to offer with breathtaking landscapes, delicious cuisine, warm hospitality, and quality services,” Lucero said. “We want visitors not only to leave happy but to come back.”
Lucero also thanked Adriana Fernández and Claudia Camacho for their support in facilitating cruise ship operations, noting the local government’s commitment, under Mayor Paz Ochoa, to maintaining Loreto as a peaceful, high-quality destination for visitors.
