From May 29 to 31, Los Cabos will be the center of national tourism
The National Travel Agencies Convention will bring together more than 300 agencies from all over Mexico in May, as well as special guests from Portugal and Spain.
The convention is exclusive to AMAV (Mexican Travel Agencies Association) members and guests; however, the state president assured that interested non-members can still register to participate, which remains open until May 28, one day before the event begins.
Companies interested in joining AMAV must have valid documentation, such as a National Tourism Registry, and sign a commitment to the association’s values.
The event will also feature representatives from the Federal Ministry of Tourism and Octavio de la Torre, national president of the CONCANACO National Chambers of CommerceConfederation), to strengthen trade relations and promote Baja California Sur’s tourist attractions.
Juan Carlos Cañedo Director of SETUE (Tourism Training and Culture at the Ministry of Tourism and Economy), reported that the purpose of this convention will be to analyze the status of tourism at the national level and the strategies implemented by states to attract more visitors.
“As the Ministry of Tourism, we ask the AMAV for a business meeting with hoteliers, travel agencies and tourism providers so that they can have this feasibility of accessing agencies and doing business, since we are a state far from the continental massif, therefore we seek to take advantage of He indicated that the event is being coordinated by SETUE, as well as the incorporation of FITURCA (Los Cabos Tourism Trusts of Los Cabos), which are primarily responsible for promoting it under the “Visit Baja Sur” brand.
“We expect to maintain or increase this number of attendees, as Los Cabos is an attractive international destination. We seek the best coverage to capitalize on this, and also for agencies to take advantage of Baja California Sur’s product, which extends from Cabo San Lucas to Guerrero Negro.”
New tourism products
David Logibori, president of AMAV in Baja California Sur, explains that negotiation tables will be organized where member companies can showcase their products, including their relationships with hotels, sites of interest, and activities that can be visited or enjoyed in the state.
“We want to offer a habituation trip for guests who come from all over, so they can learn more about Espíritu Santo Island and experience it.”
He noted that the convention will give special emphasis to sports, business, and adventure tourism, which represent strengths available year-round.
He also stated that they will promote emerging areas such as the Magical Town of Santa Rosalía, Los Barriles for the domestic market, the Mulegé area with its attractions, and Loreto with its island-focused tourism offerings.
Logibori anticipated that the event would have a positive economic impact, as it would attract more travelers throughout the year.
