This morning, a 4.9 earthquake on the Richter scale was registered in Guerrero Negro, near the border with Northern Baja. Fortunately, no damage has been reported—at least not yet. This latest tremor adds to the growing number of quakes in the region, with over 2,500 recorded since the first one hit San Jose del Cabo this summer at 4.3 degrees.
Experts suggest that the activity could be due to the formation of a new geological fault near or through San Jose del Cabo. Areas like Palmilla, Cerro Colorado, Querencia, and Cabo Real seem to be directly affected, as all the epicenters have been located around there. So far, none of these quakes have caused any serious damage, but locals are keeping a close watch. Stay safe, Baja!
