The Fund for Protection of Marine Resources (FONMAR) in La Paz reports that it has issued 169,000 fishing permits from January to November this year. That means that 15,363 boats have gone fishing per month, or 512 a day. Wow! Thank God our ocean is still plentiful despite of commercial fisheries catching tons of fishies. But, for how long!
