Midday last Friday, a yacht was seen crashing against the rocks and sinking slowly. The waves, although not to big, kept on pushing it against the rocks until it sank completely. The crew and passengers were rescued by Santa Maria bay lifesavers and other vessels. The civil protection officials reported that the engine was turned off for the pleasure of the passengers but would not start again, causing the tide to push it into the rocky area.
