Los Cabos City Council members approved the Expenditure Budget for the 2026 fiscal yearbeginning January 1, 2026. Mayor Christian Agúndez highlighted that the municipal administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, and close coordination with the community, stressing that all decisions are aimed at ensuring the responsible and efficient use of public resources.
As part of the approved agreements, the City Council authorized property tax incentives to encourage timely payments. Taxpayers will receive a 20 percent discount on property tax payments made in January and February, while a 10 percent discount will apply to payments made in March. The measure seeks to strengthen municipal revenue while easing the financial burden on families.
The council also approved the implementation of an emergency temporary employment program focused on cleaning and maintenance work across the city. The initiative aims to improve the urban image of Los Cabos while generating short-term employment opportunities for residents.
In the area of infrastructure, two electrification projects in priority neighborhoods were authorized. The first project involves the installation of nine streetlights in the Nueva Esperanza neighborhood, with an investment exceeding $48,000 US. The second project includes the construction of a power line and lighting system on Fresno Street in the La Ejidal neighborhood, with an estimated budget of $200,000 US. Both projects are intended to improve public safety and urban conditions in San José del Cabo.
