Responsible Fatherhood Day Promoted in Baja

Under the slogan “Dad, Play with Me,” an initiative was created that aims to promote equity in parenting and enhance the active role of fathers and father figures. The State Government, through the SEDIF (State System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family), is leading this effort.

This program seeks to foster a strong bond between fathers, foster parents, and children while advocating for an equitable distribution of parenting duties. According to Patricia López Navarro, honorary president, this approach supports the biological and psychosocial development of children and positively influences the well-being of the entire household.

With Father’s Day approaching on the second Sunday of June, it serves as an ideal moment to acknowledge the love, dedication, and critical role played by fathers, grandparents, and paternal figures in the lives of their children.

The activities planned for this project include a keynote address on responsible fatherhood, a booklet and workshop titled “Men Building Democratic Relationships,” a photography contest focusing on fathers and their children, as well as promotional billboards. Additionally, there will be workshops on upholstery and air conditioning to help fathers strengthen their financial stability, alongside a pension plan for young single fathers pursuing a college education.

López Navarro highlighted that being engaged in the lives of sons and daughters establishes a foundation of communication and trust. This underscores the importance of the DIF System in promoting outreach efforts that strengthen the social fabric and enhance the quality of life for families in Baja California Sur.
