What is There to Learn about the Los Cabos LGBT+ Pride Parade?

The historic LGBTQ+ Pride Parade in Cabo San Lucas will occur Saturday, June 21st. It will depart at 6 p.m. from the Cultural Pavilion of the Republic, and will celebrate 20 years of fighting for the rights of sexual diversity in Baja California Sur.

This event is organized by The Sexual Diversity Group: “Codisex A.C.”which is committed to promoting equality, non-discrimination, and defending the rights of sexual diversity in Baja California Sur.

This march also includes participation from members of the Los Cabos Municipality, who not only facilitate the event but also affirm their support for human rights and the construction of a more egalitarian, inclusive, and respectful society.

Furthermore, they emphasized that the march has brought together more than 13,000 people in previous editions, and that number is expected to increase this year.

Under the international motto “The Mantle of Freedom: Past, Present, and Future, Together for Equality,” the march seeks to reflect the cultural and intergenerational diversity of the LGBTQ+ community.

Jade Palomares, a representative of the Codisex Group, emphasized that the march goes beyond a celebration, becoming a space for expression, remembrance, and the vindication of rights for all identities.

Last Sunday, members of the group and municipal representatives participated in painting a pedestrian crossing with the colors of the LGBTQ+ flag, located next to Amelia Wilkes Public Square.

This administration recognizes the constant efforts of this community to defend and promote their rights.

However, this action also reminds us that violence and discrimination still exist. We are not willing to take a step back.

“We will continue to occupy space, raise our voices, and fight to eradicate violence and discrimination because every touch of color on our streets is a firm declaration that we deserve a world without fear,” he concluded.
