Clean-up Campaigns are Underway on Sections of Roads in Los Cabos and La Paz

What a tough job!

Groups of volunteers, led by local government representatives, have been working to remove waste accumulating along the roadsides.

In La Paz, efforts focused on the stretch connecting Todos Santos and Pescadero, where more than 51 tons of waste were collected. The initiative, “Cleaner Roads for La Paz,” brought together over 500 volunteers and covered more than eight kilometers. Mayor Milena Quiroga highlighted the achievement, noting that a wide range of waste—plastics, tires, cigarette butts, textiles, glass containers, and debris—was cleared. The cleanup involved nine teams, consisting of personnel from various state and federal agencies, City Hall workers, and residents of El Pescadero.

Meanwhile, in Cabo San Lucas, delegate Karina de la O led the cleanup along the route from Cabo San Lucas to Todos Santos. She emphasized the importance of improving the environment and raising awareness about keeping roads litter-free.

In this area, fourteen work groups—comprising personnel from different sectors of the delegation—were assigned to clean 350-meter sections. The operation focused on the stretch from the Los Cangrejos colony command post to Cabo Calisto, extending toward the Migriño community, a hotspot for waste accumulation.

“We recognize that road cleanups pose safety challenges, but maintaining a clean environment is essential,” said de la O. “It is important to raise awareness and remind citizens not to throw trash from their vehicles,” she added.
