Baja California Sur is gearing up to make a significant impact at FITUR, the premier International Tourism Fair and the leading event for the global tourism sector, taking place next week in Madrid, Spain. Supported by various trusts, the state aims to carve a niche for its tourist destinations in the international arena.
Maribel Collins, head of the Department of Tourism and Economy, emphasized the strategic importance of FITUR. “This fair is crucial for promoting Baja California Sur as a versatile tourism product across diverse market niches,” Collins stated.
The region’s agenda at FITUR includes pivotal meetings, notably one at the Mexican embassy in Spain, aimed at enhancing the visibility and appeal of its tourism offerings.
Collins Sánchez noted that the promotion efforts are supported by partnerships with tourism trusts and the business sector. These collaborations involve specialized agencies that are tasked with developing targeted strategies to attract visitors from key markets, including South America, Asia, and Europe.
“There’s a strong commitment from both trusts and businesses which empowers us to launch effective promotional activities,” Sánchez explained. “Integrating these efforts with national federation initiatives, we’re focused on diversifying our tourism market to boost our international presence.”
