During the summer holiday season, the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Spicy Food Industry (CANIRAC) recorded a 75% occupancy in food businesses; according to the councilor of the La Paz delegation, Lorena Hinojosa, the increase represents a positive boost for the local economy that directly benefits families and businesses in the region.
This boom, she indicated, not only shows the preference of visitors for the city of La Paz as a destination, but also the success of the strategies implemented by businesses to attract them and promote local consumption.
“We are closing a very positive summer vacation with all the restaurants, and hotels exceeding 75% occupancy. This fills us with great pleasure,” she said
Hinojosa recognizes strengthening the local market is essential to achieving better results. She is considering policies that prioritize the consumption of local products and services not only to promote economic sustainability, but also to provide better income opportunities for Baja California Sur families.
“We are surpassing, not in much higher amounts, but we are exceeding 12% compared to last year, in presence in restaurants and hotels, and this means in all tourist service providers, so yes, better than in 2023.”
Despite the positive results, the representative of CANIRAC warns that the tourism sector must continue to innovate and adapt to new market demands to maintain this upward trend.
