Women Prepare to March in Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, and San José

Street closures are expected. Plan accordingly.

As every year on March 8, feminist collectives in Los Cabos will march to commemorate International Women’s Day. In Cabo San Lucas, the march will begin at 3:00 p.m. from the Cultural Pavilion to the government delegation esplanade. A ceremony will follow, featuring testimonies from women who have experienced violence, honoring those who are no longer with us.

In La Paz, the march starts at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Márquez de León and Abasolostreets, near the boardwalk. Women may participate with male minors up to 12 years old.

Both marches will have designated contingents in the following order: mothers and relatives of missing persons and feminicide victims, mothers and daughters, neurodivergent children (boys up to 12 years old), and women of all capacities who wish to join.

A virtual clothesline (an expose with photos or names of men that have somehow abused women) has begun to collect stories from women who have faced violence, some of whom were pushed to the brink of suicide.

The Women’s Institute of Los Cabos invites the community to a women’s bazaar celebrating its second anniversary. The event takes place on Saturday, March 8, at Amelia Wilkes Plaza in Cabo San Lucas from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., featuring live music and a craft exhibition.

International Women’s Day is a global event recognizing women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. On this day, women protest to demand gender equality, reproductive rights, and an end to violence.

The mobilization call has gained traction on social media, with various groups and organizations expected to participate. Governor Víctor Castro stated there will be no special security measures, emphasizing that demonstrators’ rights are fully respected.
