The La Paz government has just rolled out a new plan that offers a 30 percent discount on all traffic fines if you pay them within 48 hours of getting the ticket. Not bad, right? But if you miss that window, don’t worry—there’s still a 20 percent discount if you pay within 72 hours. It’s a sweet deal for anyone who finds themselves caught in a traffic violation (and let’s be honest, that happens to the best of us).
Now, before you get too excited, there are a couple of exceptions. The discounts do not apply if you’re caught driving under the influence or parking in spots reserved for the handicapped. Those infractions are still going to cost you full price, no matter how fast you pay up.
The best part? The government says these discounts are permanent, or at least until they decide otherwise. So, keep this in mind if you find yourself on the wrong side of a parking ticket or a speeding fine. Pay up quickly, and save yourself a few bucks!
