The poor condition of the Transpeninsular Highway from La Paz to Northern Baja has been a source of frustration for many travelers. Not only has it caused numerous car accidents, but it has also significantly slowed down cargo traffic. The situation became so dire that concerned citizens decided to take matters into their own hands by pooling their resources to buy asphalt and fix some of the worst potholes themselves.
Thankfully, Pemex stepped in and generously donated hundreds of tons of asphalt, which has prompted both the federal and state governments to finally get involved. They’re now actively working on paving several problematic sections of the highway, which should help improve safety and efficiency for everyone traveling this route.
While the repairs are underway, remember to drive carefully and be mindful of the workers who are out there making our roads safer. Let’s hope the improvements continue and make our journeys a little smoother!
