Fishermen of Punta Lobos, located near Todos Santos reported a small injured seal that beached in. Officials from the environmental protection agency rang the alert and biologists from the marine research center (CICIMAR) in La Paz as well as experts from the marine life rescue organization showed up. It turned out to be an earless seal (Phoca vitulina), which habitat is normally over 500 miles north of La Paz around the Nativity and Roque islands. The baby seal was transferred to the rescue center of the Whale Museum in La Paz for recovery and return to its usual habitat.
