It has to be a team effort
In response to recent criticism about inadequate resources for maintaining clean streets, Mayor Christian Agúndez has proposed a collaborative program involving local businesses to help keep Los Cabos tidy.
The Public Services Department has faced challenges due to a lack of sufficient vehicles and tools, drawing public concern. However, Mayor Agúndez emphasized that cleaning campaigns have been conducted in areas with high foot traffic from both citizens and tourists.
As part of the solution, the mayor suggested a program inspired by “Adopt a Kilometer,” where businesses, hotels, and companies would take on responsibility for cleaning specific roads and public spaces. In return, the City Council has pledged to enhance garbage collection and general cleaning efforts across the municipality.
“There are many people and businesses eager to support the City Council,” said Mayor Agúndez. “While the program might not be identical to ‘Adopt a Kilometer,’ it will help us achieve a cleaner city. We also encourage all citizens to keep the areas around their homes and businesses clean.”
Meanwhile, the Coordinating Council announced a meeting with the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) to discuss the Road Conservation Program set to begin next year. This federal initiative could provide much-needed support for maintaining federal spaces, a task currently shouldered by the local administration.
Let’s work together to keep Los Cabos beautiful!
