Fluorescent collars on livestock have successfully reduced road mishaps on the highway in Los Cabos. This December, only one road accident involving livestock has been recorded, marking a significant decrease thanks to a new safety measure promoted by the Los Cabos City Council through the Municipal Directorate of Rural Development.
The director of the agency, Raúl Montaño, noted, “Thanks to the initiative of the municipal president, Christian Agúndez, and in collaboration with staff from the Costa Palmas development, we are seeing good results.”
The strategy aims to increase the visibility of livestock crossing the road, thereby reducing risks for both motorists and animals. Montaño explained that efforts will continue to distribute fluorescent collars among livestock farmers to further enhance road safety in the region.
The initiative has also received support from the livestock community, who appreciate the actions taken to protect their animals and prevent accidents. The City Council has emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and producers to ensure the success of these measures.
This safety strategy is set to be maintained and expanded in the coming months.
