In Mexico, honoring the dead on November 1 and 2 is a beautiful, ancient tradition with roots in pre-Hispanic culture, and this year, Cabo is pulling out all the stops for a grand celebration! Kicking off on November 1, the “Altars in the Sea” festival begins with an altar-building competition at 4:00 pm, where participants display their lovingly crafted tributes to family and friends who have passed. This will be followed by a lively Catrinas show, as well as art and cultural activities at Puerto Paraiso Mall (marina side) – a perfect chance to snap photos of the elegantly dressed “skeleton ladies” and immerse yourself in Mexican heritage.
On November 2, don’t miss the highlight of the festival: the Nautical Parade, which sets sail at 4:00 pm, filling the marina with colorful floats. And as the sun sets, a fireworks display will light up Medano Beach at 6:00 pm, adding a festive sparkle to the evening.
Finally, join the crowd at Cabo’s main park in downtown (two blocks up from Tesoro Hotel) for a Gastronomical Fest featuring local food, tequila, and mezcal tastings. It’s the perfect spot to soak up the flavors and colors of Cabo’s Día de Muertos celebrations.
