Yacht Impounded for Illegal Fishing

A yacht was recently impounded by members of the Mexican Navy, working alongside the National Commission of Fisheries (CONAPESCA), for illegal fishing in Cabo Pulmo’s National Park. The yacht was caught after its crew hauled in a 110 lbs. marlin without the necessary fishing permits.

The owners of the yacht are now facing a hefty fine if they want to get their vessel back. As for the marlin, it was donated to DIF, a government-run charity organization, where it will be used to feed those in need.

This incident serves as a reminder to all tourists heading out on fishing trips. Before you cast your line, make sure the captain of your boat has the proper permits. It’s important to avoid unexpected legal troubles while enjoying Cabo’s waters!
