A group of 10 tourists and crew of the “Regacsa” yacht were rescued by the “Pura Suerte” (Pure Luck) boat that was nearby. The yacht hit a rocky point near the Espiritu Santo island.
The accident took place early at night and was reported to the Port Captain and medical personnel. An examination found all were unharmed. Just a little freaked out.
They traveled from Cabo San Lucas to the Espiritu Santo island. The yacht ended up half sunk but was almost immediately removed by Navy personnel and other boats crews that volunteered to tow it away from the island, saving it from ending up at the bottom of our precious Sea of Cortes.
According to the report, the “Regacsa” captain was not very familiar with the perimeter established around the island and ended up on the rocks.
I bet he’s looking for another job as we speak.
Ironically, the rock they hit is near an islet known as “La Partida,” which means “the broken one.”
