Telmex Will Deploy Submarine Cable for Us

Mexico’s Secretariat of the Environment (Semarnat) has approved the initiation of a crucial study aimed at ensuring the environmentally sustainable installation of a fiber optic cable connecting San Jose del Cabo to Mazatlán. Telmex has been entrusted with this significant project, which, upon approval, will require an investment of US $22.6 million. This initiative holds the promise of substantially enhancing telecommunications infrastructure throughout the Baja Peninsula.

The approval marks a pivotal step forward in addressing the region’s connectivity needs while safeguarding its natural environment. The study will meticulously assess the project’s potential environmental impacts and propose mitigation measures to ensure minimal disruption to local ecosystems.

Once implemented, the fiber optic cable will not only bolster communication capabilities but also support economic development and innovation across Baja California Sur. It underscores the commitment to advancing technology while responsibly managing environmental resources—a balance crucial for sustainable growth and prosperity in the region.
