The Urban Planning Institute (IMPLAN) is sounding the alarm on the rapid growth in Los Cabos. Ussiel Garcia, the director of IMPLAN, pointed out that in the last decade, the region has welcomed a whopping 100,000 new residents—that’s about 10,000 people flocking to the area each year. This influx is creating a pressing demand for basic necessities like housing, healthcare, and education. Garcia broke it down to a startling statistic: we need to build four homes every single day just to accommodate this surge.
The boom doesn’t stop at housing. With new residents comes an increase in vehicles, contributing to more congested roads and stretched infrastructure. “It’s challenging to keep pace with such rapid growth,” Garcia expressed. This surge is reshaping the landscape of Los Cabos, posing significant challenges for urban planners and local authorities trying to maintain quality of life for all.
