The live theater event of the season is coming to Todos Santos. Buckle up for a rollicking comedy, The Kitchen Witches, live and on stage at the Teatro Marquez de Leon adjacent to the plaza in downtown Todos Santos. All proceeds will benefit The Palapa Society of Todos Santos, A.C.

About the Play
The Kitchen Witches features two, rival cooking show hosts, who’ve held a grudge for over 40 years. Thrown together in a combined show, the sparks, insults, and general mayhem ensue, with one cook’s son caught in the middle. This raucous comedy, written by Caroline Smith, draws on modern-day celebrity and competitive cooking shows but adds a behind-the-scenes element with all the drama and comedy we know happens when the camera is supposedly off.
“We are especially excited to perform this comedy on stage in the historic Teatro Marquez de Leon, located in the heart of Todos Santos and celebrating its 80th year,” comments Kathy Warnert, co-producer and an actor in the play. “As the only pueblo theater in all of Mexico, this jewel offers beautiful seating and excellent viewing. We’ve enhanced the sound with head mics so everyone will hear every word of this comedy.”
Director, Pamela Sue Martin
The show’s Director and local resident is Pamela Sue Martin, most known for her acclaimed professional acting career in the title role in the Nancy Drew TV series and in the popular TV series Dynasty. She was in the all-star cast of The Poseidon Adventure and many other films. She’s also an accomplished director of numerous stage plays. “In my professional career I moved from film and television to live theater which I am delighted to work on here in Todos Santos. Comedy is my favorite. It has a rhythm to it, and this play, with this cast, is like music to my ears. I look forward to hearing the laughter.”
The Cast
The cast is an ensemble of experienced actors, all residents of Todos Santos, and include Josh Lay, playing Stephen, the earnest, if timid son of Dolly, who tries to hold things together as the show frequently goes off the rails. Josh has performed in film and on stage in New York. Some of his credits include Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, VH1, MTV, Nickelodeon and Disney+. “I am excited about his role in Kitchen Witches as well as the opportunity to perform at the historic Marquez de Leon theater.
Kathy Warnert plays Dolly, a low-budget cooking show host, who is her own worst enemy as she simultaneously tries to get the edge over her rival while charming the viewing audience. Warnert has dozens of plays under her belt both in the U.S. and Todos Santos. “This is one of the funniest plays I’ve done. It’s especially exciting performing with such an experienced team. And, of course, donating the proceeds to The Palapa Society is icing on the cake.”
Celia Devault plays Isobel, the rival cooking show hosts who is more polished and sophisticated and lets everyone know she is a graduate of the Cordon Bleu. Devault is known in the area as a veteran actor, locally and on the La Paz stages. “It is such a pleasure to be a part of this production. I have always enjoyed being in comedy plays, as much as watching them. We all need a good laugh!”
Daniel Caracas rounds out the cast playing Rob, the production assistant and sidekick to Director/Producer Stephen. Daniel has been on the Todos Santos stage playing multiple roles as a child, teen and female, all in the same play! Daniel’s ability to morph into his character is impressive and his enthusiasm is contagious. Daniel is a local glass artist.
The Palapa Society of Todos Santos, A.C. is co-producer and sole beneficiary of the play’s proceeds. President and artist, Erick Ochoa commented, “Historically The Palapa Society has been a supporter of cultural and artistic events while supporting the education of the youth in our community.
