The havoc caused by Hurricane Hillary was felt most acutely in the northern regions of the state, particularly in Mulege, San Juanico, and Santa Rosalia. These areas experienced the brunt of the storm’s fury, leading to significant infrastructure damage and devastating many local communities.
In light of the extensive damages and in order to expedite relief measures, Governor Castro Cosio took a decisive step by declaring the entire state a disaster zone. This declaration paves the way for accessing crucial emergency funding which will go a long way in aiding the relief and reconstruction efforts. The proposal to release these funds will be presented to the state congress, and there is widespread optimism that the necessary financial assistance will be approved without delay.
