Monday March 20 is an official holiday, moved one day back from Tuesday March 21, when Mexicans celebrate the birth of Benito Juarez, President of Mexico from 1858 to 1872. Juarez led Mexican liberals against conservatives during the Reform War and fought the French Intervention. His policies advocated civil liberties, equality before the law, the sovereignty of civilian power over the Catholic Church and the military. We love Benny Juárez so much that we carry his image in our wallets. If you are an employer you should give your employees the day off, or pay triple salary.
