The U.S. State Department announced a second temporary opening of their website to renew passports online. Go to: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport/renew.html (The site might be hard to reach because of high traffic volume, if you can’t access the page, try again later)
The website states: “How Do I Renew Online: Follow the steps on this page to create and activate a MyTravelGov account. After four hours, check your account and look for the option to “Renew Passport” when you login. We will reopen the portal again in November for new customers. If you are unable to renew online this month, you may renew by mail or in-person if you do not want to wait until November.” Hurry up!
