The 28th. Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada 2021 was busy this year, with 1,910 different wines from 32 countries participating. The members of the jury had to sacrifice and taste them all in only 4 days of competition! Well, the jury was composed of 11 commissions of five people each, so no one got drunk. Mexico’s best were A 2017 “Bajalupano” Cabernet Sauvignon from Valle de Guadalupe, “Puerta del Lobo,” a 2019 Merlot from Queretaro central Mexico, a 2019 “Huno,” Cabernet Sauvignon,a 2017 “Casa Madero Gran Reserva” Malbec, from Valle de Parras, a 2017 “Casa Madero Gran Reserva 3V,” a 2016 “Sierra Gorda Gran Reserva from Queretaro, a 2017 “Rancho el Fortin” Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz, a 2019 Casa Madero Merlot and three more from Casa Madero.
