Visits to the gorgeous island near La Paz have increased, and too many tourists come in large yachts and other vessels that are disrupting the environment. These tourists come to swim with sea lions, whale sharks, dive, and bring dinghys to go to the various beaches around the island. Too many people, too much noise, say the local tour companies that use pangas and small boats to transport small groups of tourists. They also fear competition from companies from Los Cabos.
